Over all a good book with a lot of information to study from. I don’t necessarily think you can get specific bottle recommendations from reading this, but will help This book is a great primer on wines of the world that I picked up shortly after completing my first certification in wine and spirits.

The book pretty much followed what was taught in a university setting. I love Kevin’s story see Chapter 1 and the margins are packed with great facts, its simply brimming with information but doesn’t feel overbearing at any point. Furthermore, it is written in a worldd style which makes it suitable for all levels. Zraly seems to be coming from the attitude that there is a correct and an incorrect in understanding wine, a rigidity that I do not personally value.

Notify me of new comments via email. As a wine student, I liked having it as a resource and study aide, but it was also a really enjoyable read. A fine introduction to wine. Wine is changing so fast that it is hard to keep up and impossible to be really completebut this edition does a good job in both respects. There is no information on China, a important developing wine region with volume surpassing Germany and Chile, but it is same for most other wine books.

Get to Know Us. The World Atlas of Wine, 7th Edition. Overall, it gave me a better understanding of the reason behind wine enthusiasts wold. I’m sure ill pick this one up again in the ,evin, it’s just that I’m not that excited to I haven’t yet made my way through this book entirely, but my impressions at my current stopping point have me favoring the other wine books I have over this one, which is why I’m putting it down for now.
This book might work well for a group of people who used it as a text book for their own wine course, but as an at home read I found it difficult to follow.

It is not nearly complete however but instead looks at major wine producing areas of the world. For a more detailed option, I also like the Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopedia.

It’s divided up into 8 courses and additional ancillary chapters, all of which deserve careful attention.
